If you’re introverted, you may be interested in knowing that there are certain things that fellow introverts secretly like. You may not find yourself agreeing with all five of these; however, you probably identify with most of them! And if you’re an extrovert, this will help you better understand the introverts in your life!
1. Introverts secretly like when plans get canceled. Maybe the introvert said yes to something or someone out of a sense of obligation. This of course can happen to extroverts as well. Or maybe they said yes because it sounded good at the time, and it’s sounding either less exciting or they are feeling more anxious or dreading it the closer it gets. Or you said yes purely because of FOMO–fear of missing out. Yes, introverts can have FOMO just like extroverts, and here is a video that explains this:Introverts With FOMO
2. Introverts secretly like the rain. So many people complain about rain because it can ruin plans and it is no fun to get outside. Well, ruined plans usually mean canceled plans, so yes, introverts like that! The rain causes people to turn inward–with umbrellas and coats with hoods–most people are less talkative when out in the rain. Additionally, and it may come as a surprise, however, many introverts prefer to stay indoors when they have the choice.
3. Introverts secretly like their own personal place to escape. Do you ever see people just sitting in their cars in a parking lot at work? This could be because this is their personal escape place. That place where they don’t have to be “on” for other people. Where they can get peace, quiet, and just be by themselves. For some that means a car, for others it means a room in their house, even if they live with others they feel comfortable with. I attend a conference twice a year in Orlando, and although I enjoy interacting with others at the hotel where it’s held, I commonly take the elevator up to my room throughout the conference to get my personal space.
4. Introverts secretly like no–they secretly LOVE their pets. Most everyone loves their pets–whether they are introverted or extroverted. However, introverts love their pets for a myriad of reasons. Yes, they are loving companions, and for introverts, they are loving companions who love you quietly. They don’t talk, they don’t pepper you with questions, they don’t think you are weird when you are “in your head”. They simply love you for your quiet presence.
5. Introverts secretly like to take their time responding. This is why they love when people send a text, a private message, an email or leave a voice mail. Introverts hate to be put on the spot, and these forms of communication give them time to respond. if you want to keep an introvert happy, do not ask them something on the spot either in person or on the telephone! And if you do, preface it by saying, you don’t have to answer now, just think about it and let me know. That will be music to their ears! And if you’re waiting awhile before their response, it’s doubtful they have forgotten….they just like to take their time responding!
Do you have certain things you secretly like that you attribute to being an introvert? If so, I would love to know!
